To be honest, Guideline Records was more of a 'dream come true' than a well-considered business with a marketing plan. It just happened. It's also pretty hard for me to state the intentions behind our label because there are so many things that we think are important. Basically, I feel like Guideline Records is a way to speak our minds. It is a opportunity to react positively instead of just complaining. It's the chance to make a statement about making things better. We want to be a platform for artists that have these same intentions.
We don't want to define „hardcore“, but for me it`s living by your convictions, always striving for a positive change, and the opposition of pop(ular) culture. I think hardcore got a bad name when it was considered to be just a bunch of angry kids that couldn't play their instruments. It's true that we do need good bands, 'cause no one wants to listen to bad music. However, we also have to take care to not lose the spirit of the movement and just play well-written songs.
Sure, we want to be successful and sell as many records a possible, but Guideline Records is definetly not just about financial success. It`s more about living out our dreams (even if that sounds a little cheesy!).
